Mocksville NC Main Street Offers Burst of Beautiful Flowers

Mocksville, a town located in Davie County in North Carolina, hosts many events on and around their Main Street. Like many Southern towns in America, Mocksville's main street is flanked by a variety of family-owned businesses.

Folks might find Main Street in Mocksville closed for parades, such as their annual Christmas parade or the Tractor Parade. Seniors join youngsters as crowds gather to watch the latest caravan coming down the road.

The town also hosts a variety of festivals, such as the Daniel Boone Days. Unusual fund raisers, like the bed race, have also found themselves on the main drag. The Mocksville Cruise-in is a great time for families to come and enjoy seeing a nice variety of cars.

With ample sidewalks, many local residents stroll along the street, perhaps with a faithful four-legged friend on a leash. In October, many residents and businesses along the road have a little fun with Halloween and Fall-themed decorations.

The area is even pretty at night as lights twinkle in the trees and outline many of the shops. One might even have a chance to ride a horse and buggy or hayride through the peaceful street near Christmas time while enjoying the four oak trees, majestically ablaze in white lights.

Although Mocksville's main street sees many changes throughout the year on special occasions, even the "ordinary" days can become special. The Mocksville Garden Club has provided a wealth of beauty through their artistic use of planters that adorn each side of the street. Other volunteers have also worked to keep these planters beautiful year after year.

These planters explode with beautiful color! I've had many flowers in my gardens over the years, and I must say that I've been quite impressed with these volunteers who weed, water, and tend the beautiful flowers. They also select different varieties, and my daughters have enjoyed watching to see what plants will come up next.

Do they often get much thanks? Probably not. Do they know how much people appreciate their efforts? It's unlikely. But I want to publically commend them for working to make Mocksville a more beautiful town. And if you are ever traveling in or near Mocksville, it's worth the detour to drive down Main Street and see them for yourself.
