2014 Concerts at Village Park in Kannapolis

2014 Village Park Concerts in Kannapolis © Katrena
Summer activities abound at Village Park, located at 700 West C Street in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Six concerts are scheduled for the 2014 summer season, each with a different theme. Three of those dates also include fireworks, and I've highlighted those in the chart for easy viewing. On the date this article was published all concerts are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.

You might consider arriving early to enjoy the beautiful park, complete with a small train ride, splash pad, and a nice playground. Staff members at Village Park have been very friendly, helpful, and upbeat when my family has visited. A YMCA is adjacent to Village Park, and the Gem Theatre is just a few blocks away, so a family could easily enjoy a day together without spending a lot of money.

2014 Salisbury Movies at the Park – Fun Free Family Entertainment

Salisbury Movies at the Park 2014 Calendar

Find the 2023 schedule of free movies in Salisbury by clicking here.

NOTE:

*I just got notification (5/30) that due to weather conditions, the Frozen movie will be shown on Saturday, May 31 at 9:00 instead of the originally scheduled Friday date.

**It looks like they've had another change in dates due to rain. The Despicable Me 2 movie will be shown on Saturday, June 14 at 9:00 rather than the originally scheduled Friday date.

***Three for three so far in 2014. The Wizard of Oz movie will be shown on Saturday, June 28 at 9:00 rather than the originally scheduled Friday date due to expected rain.

****The August 8 movie (Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 has been moved to an undetermined date due to rain). I'll post an update when I see one on their official web site. Ugh - tough year for these Friday night movies, but thanks so much to the Rowan County recreation folks for giving up so many Saturdays to provide these fun family opportunities.

Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department is offering their popular movies in the park again in 2014. Folks from all around bring blankets and lawn chairs as they prepare to watch movies under the stars at City Park, located at the corner of W. Miller and Jackson Streets in Rowan County, North Carolina.

The movies start at 9:00 p.m. Admission is free; concessions are sold at the park during the event.

Some people come early to enjoy the lake, memorial, playgrounds, and walking trails. The recreation department might even offer some music or trivia contests for the early birds. I joked around with some of the people who work for Salisbury Parks and Recreation and asked if they had a deal going with the One in charge of weather. I don't think any of their movies got rained out in 2013, which is really saying something because it seemed to rain about every day that summer.

Here is the published schedule for the 2014 calendar of Salisbury Movies at the Park according to the Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department web site:

May 30
Frozen*
June 13
Despicable Me 2**

July 25

Folks who are walking along the sidewalks may notice signs for trolley stops. Trolley rides (except for the haunted trolley in October) are free during the Salisbury Nights Out. Some folks have even discovered a joy for performing as Bryan, the coolest trolley driver around, might hand the mic over to a future rock star, country star, or gospel singer while transforming the ride into the Karaoke Trolley!

2014 Mocksville Cruise In Car Show Dates

Mocksville Cruise In Car Show 2014 Dates © Katrena
Mocksville, a small town located in Davie County of North Carolina, offers a variety of events on their Main Street under the four oak trees. Beds rumble down the road at the annual bed race as the Christmas season and the annual Christmas parade approaches. Tractors - lots of them! - line up for the annual tractor parade in July. The garden club logs many volunteer hours as many citizens work their magic on the planters that feature beautiful and colorful plants in sight of the newly repaired clock atop the courthouse. Veterans and others gather near the memorial for the Veterans Day service, and Daniel Boone Days bring with them a bustle of activity that spills into the side streets. The kids might even set up an appointment to read to Ranger the dog at the public library on Main Street.

If you want to see a great free car show, Mocksville has it covered with a wide variety of cars. Folks from all over show their rides, listen to the music, and simply enjoy the memories of vehicles from the past at the Cruise In, sponsored by the Piedmont C.A.R.S. Association.
